Posted On Friday, June 29, 2007 at at 11:04 AM by LokeshMight be pretty old but it is good to watch. I have tried beryl and it is simply superb. But unfortunately I was not able to get it running on my acer laptop w/ SiS :( It works perfectly on my desktop.

I have been using Linux since 2001 and ubuntu from 2005. It is getting better every year.
I just use windows @ home for iTunes (even though we have song bird, GTK pod I still beleive iTunes from Apple is THE BEST)

Music Status with GAIM
Posted On Sunday, February 18, 2007 at at 4:09 AM by Lokesh I was looking for a GAIM plugin to support music status feature similar to GTalk. With Music Tracker plugin, I was able to get this feature working on my google, hotmail, yahoo accounts.
Initial versions of this plugin used XMMS Infopipes, which took much of system resources. Version 0.2.2 is quite good and it uses libxmms instead of info pipe.
To get this working (i tried on ubuntu)
- Download from here
- Extract tar -xvjf musictracker-0.2.2.tar.bz2
- Compile
- cd musictracker-0.2.2
- ./configure
- sudo make
- sudo make install
- If you dont find libxmms.so in /usr/lib and you have something like libxmms.so.1.3.1 make a link as
- sudo ln -s libxmms.so libxmms.so.1.3.1
Step 4 is just an work around. Actually version 0.2.2 plugin looks for libxmms.so
Raaga and Musicindiaonline on Ubuntu
Posted On Saturday, February 17, 2007 at at 6:31 AM by LokeshAfter many unsuccessful attempts to get Raga and Musicindiaonline work on ubuntu / firefox2, finally got it working with new unstable version of realplayer
It seems realplayer 10.0.* has some some problem with firefox. Now with 10.1.* i was able to enjoy listening raaga and musicindiaonline. Bye to WINE / firefox approach
