I find this book interesting Red Earth and Pouring Rain. The title of the book is derived from this poem it seems. Looking forward to read this book.
A. K. Ramanujan's Translation:
What could my mother be
to yours? What kin is my father
to yours anyway? And how
Did you and I meet ever?
But in love
our hearts have mingled
as red earth and pouring rain.

I don't want to smudge this sacrosanct version by translating :)
I referred to Tamil lexicon developed by University of Madras and here are the meanings

Posted On at at 10:57 PM by Lokesh I am disinterested in establishing that my perception is dominant or persuade people with my views. If some of my views hurt anyone, I seriously apologize for it.
By reasoning #2, I don’t expect any miracles to happen J
Either way, I think my stance is right. So I maintain “agnostic atheism”, believing myself and happily attribute every success or failure to my own decisions.
Google Chrome
Posted On Sunday, September 14, 2008 at at 12:18 AM by LokeshI see the thumbnails of frequently visted pages but I am not sure how many will prefer using these (fancy) features. I see the domain name suggest feature in address bar similar to firefox3. As a developer, I feel the inspector tool quite useful. It is a component from WebKit so no wonder it is attractive. The memory and CPU usage map will also help web developers.
I was surprised when I came to know that there is no support for add ons. I am sure I can't browse without add ons. I think the strength of firefox itself is addons. I use Unplug, FlashBlock, DataFox, Dictionaries quite frequently that I never use IE. I would be happy if Chrome supports the firefox addons some how (I knew it won't be that easy but nothing wrong in expecting it from Google). I understand it is too early to expect from Google, but they could have launched with few addons most used by firefox users. Also an industry leader like Google should support linux users. Though promised I think we should get products platform independent. I don't see GTalk for Linux till now and I had to use Tapioca. I will be happy if Google comes out with Chrome for Linux like G Desktop, Picasa.
Overall I think Chrome is a good start but a long way to go. I have to stick with firefox 3 for now.

Music Status with GAIM
Posted On Sunday, February 18, 2007 at at 4:09 AM by Lokesh I was looking for a GAIM plugin to support music status feature similar to GTalk. With Music Tracker plugin, I was able to get this feature working on my google, hotmail, yahoo accounts.
Initial versions of this plugin used XMMS Infopipes, which took much of system resources. Version 0.2.2 is quite good and it uses libxmms instead of info pipe.
- Download from here
- Extract tar -xvjf musictracker-0.2.2.tar.bz2
- Compile
- cd musictracker-0.2.2
- ./configure
- sudo make
- sudo make install
- If you dont find libxmms.so in /usr/lib and you have something like libxmms.so.1.3.1 make a link as
- sudo ln -s libxmms.so libxmms.so.1.3.1
